JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. The tasks at the prison are varied: care, monitoring, searching, and security work are mixed with release planning and conversation/motivation work. The work at the detention center is often routine-based and focused on care and security tasks. Clients may be detained for long periods without meeting anyone other than their lawyer and the staff at the detention center, which places special demands on you as a correctional officer.

Working as a correctional officer means you can make a difference for other people and contribute to a better society. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share Kriminalvården's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important to us. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. Since you will be running the operations together with your colleagues, you need to have good teamwork skills and the ability to communicate clearly. Good judgment and integrity are required in your professional practice. The position requires good physical ability to handle situations that may arise at work and to perform the physical tasks included in the introductory training.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A complete high school education or other education combined with work experience.
• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Knowledge in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, or conflict management.
• Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, health and social care, or service work in trade, hotels, or restaurants.

Some positions are classified as security-sensitive, and a security check with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
